Everyone has their own image of the West Indies: maybe it’s an aquamarine sea, secluded coves and beaches beyond compare; perhaps a long lunch of freshly caught lobster or is it the lush vegetation and steaming volcanic springs? No less than nine idyllic islands are awaiting your pleasure on this truly exceptional ‘escape the winter’ voyage aboard Magellan, plus fascinating calls in Amsterdam, the Azores, Madeira and Lisbon.
From canals to world-famous museums, Amsterdam is one of the greatest small cities in the world. From here, a course is set for Ponta Delgada in the Azores, where there is an opportunity to explore the cobbled streets and natural island beauty. The white reef-protected beaches of Antigua are a splendid introduction to the Caribbean. With its Dutch colonial flavour St. Maarten is a shopper’s paradise. Picturesque St. Kitts is laid back and Brimstone Hill Fortress worth a visit. Banana plantations, a bubbling volcano and fishing villages all come together in lush St. Lucia. Witness the wonderful scenery of St. Vincent, set for the blockbuster film Pirates of the Caribbean, whilst on idyllic Bequia just indulge yourself. Mayreau, a private island in the Grenadines, is possibly the nearest you will get to tropical paradise offering an optional catamaran tour to the stunning Tobago Cays. Barbados with its British flavour, offers a mix of the familiar and the exotic - glorious golden beaches, towering palms and beautifully landscaped gardens. Enjoy relaxing days sailing the Atlantic before making landfalls in the beautiful island of Madeira and Portugal’s historic capital of Lisbon.
Cruise Highlights:
On this wonderful voyage of discovery, Magellan will take you to far flung islands full of fascination, sunshine and a warm welcome. Don’t miss these highlights…
• Enjoy your first landfall on the Ilha Verde (Green Island) of São Miguel in the Azores. The soil here is so fertile that up to four crops can be harvested a year. Oranges, bananas, pineapples, tea, tobacco, vines and cereals all prosper here.
• Despite Antigua boasting beaches, beaches and more beaches, make sure you take in Nelson’s Dockyard and Clarence House at English Harbour as you acclimatise yourself to life in the Caribbean.
• Basseterre is the little capital of unspoilt St. Kitts with a lovely town square, the Circus, so named as the square is actually round! The green Victorian Berkeley Memorial Clock in its centre is one of the most photographed landmarks.
• Be sure to explore St. Lucia, the most scenic of Caribbean islands, whose green mountains are draped in lush vegetation and the famous twin peaks of the dramatic Pitons rise sheer from the sea.
• Mayreau, a privately owned island in the Grenadines, is possibly the nearest you will get to tropical paradise. Visit Tobago Cays for some of the best diving and snorkeling in the Caribbean.
• St. George’s, Grenada’s capital, is one of the most picturesque ports in the West Indies, but, you should really spend some time exploring the lush interior and see the jungle of palms, oleander, bougainvillea, purple and red hibiscus and others that flourish there.
• Perhaps no port typifies our idea of the classic West Indian island better than Barbados. Seemingly endless stretches of pink and white beaches, plenty of other diversions, historic attractions and fine dining options all make the Bajan case.
Highlights may be subject to booking specific shore excursions and are subject to operation and weather conditions.

Magellan
Magellan is the proud new flagship of the CMV fleet and like Marco Polo and Azores operates as an adult friendly ship. At 46,052grt she will carry about 1250 passengers accommodated in 726 cabins spanning nine passenger decks serviced by eight lifts. Her wide corridors and stairways and expansive deck areas with wood type decking in many areas exude a real feeling of spaciousness with a wide range of comfortable well appointed lounges and panoramic seating and observation areas ideally suited to our scenic cruise programme.
Magellan boasts a spacious interior, with wide corridors and expansive wooden deck areas providing comfortable surroundings for guests. However, the ship still provides an intimate atmosphere, with a huge range of leisure facilities, including bars and lounges, as well as multiple dining options.
Combining expansive, comfortable surroundings and friendly service with stylish entertainment and delicious cuisine, Magellan is the perfect choice for those looking for a greater range of on board facilities. However, she still retains a feel of intimacy and personal attention when compared with the ‘mega’ resort style ships built today. No climbing walls or ice-skating rinks and no kids!
Exclusively for adults
For the enjoyment of our adult passengers, Magellan cruises operate as ‘child free’. This means that even during school holiday times you can enjoy the pleasures of cruising in the company of adult passengers only. We will however accept teenagers who are 16 years old or above at the time of sailing but they must be accompanied by adult passengers.
